Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Child Life, Education, Psychology or other related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with Child Life focus is required. Certification with the Association of Child Life Professionals is required within one year of acceptance. Candidate must be eligible for certification and maintain certification during employment. Must have a valid BCLS- HCP CPR certificate and a professional membership with the ACLP. Two (2) years related experience in Child Life with experience providing psychosocial preparation for procedures and medical interventions is preferred. Experience providing psychosocial preparation for procedures and medical interventions and availability to work evenings, weekends and varied shifts is required for this position. The incumbent has the opportunity to influence practice through the provision of education and consultation to the interdisciplinary team and to participate in quality initiatives. Expertise in the areas of communication, conflict resolution, group programming, therapeutic play, grief and loss, coping strategies, growth and development, collaboration, flexibility, independent professional approaches and mature interpersonal skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in both an inpatient and ambulatory hospital setting is an asset. Child Development certificate (2 year diploma) and or a Child Life certificate (1 year diploma) an asset.
