Your Opportunity:

Assisted Living Alberta (ALA) is seeking a results-driven, visionary executive to serve as its Chief of Staff (CoS). This role is critical in ensuring organizational alignment and operational excellence across all administrative functions. As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and strategic advisor to the CEO, the CoS provides day-to-day administrative oversight and leads proactive issue management. You will oversee core administrative services for Continuing Care across the province while advancing strategic initiatives that improve health and wellness outcomes for Albertans. This is a unique opportunity to work with health leaders to shape the future of Continuing Care in Alberta, improve services for seniors and individuals with complex needs, and help build a more responsive, integrated system. The position is based in Edmonton and requires on-site presence. ALA is a newly established provincial organization under the oversight of Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS). It is focused on transforming Alberta’s Continuing Care system—including Home & Community Care—by providing wraparound supports so Albertans can access care when and where they need it, regardless of age, diagnosis, or duration of need. ALA’s mission is to help Albertans live and age with dignity in environments that support their health, independence, and well-being. By addressing long wait times, limited access for complex needs, and system pressures, ALA is committed to delivering timely, integrated, and innovative care solutions.

Description:

ALA's Chief of Staff (CoS) bridges the gap between the Executive and the broader team, managing workflows, facilitating communication, and driving key initiatives. Acting on behalf of the CEO when appropriate, this role provides operational oversight to ensure ALA's activities remain aligned with its strategic plan and the CEO's intent. This role requires a visionary, driven, and focused leader capable of navigating uncertainty, solving problems with agility, and uniting people, policies, and projects. The CoS will work closely with Alberta Health's Shared Services Organization and report directly to the CEO. The CoS builds and maintains strategic partnerships to resolve emerging issues early and effectively. They establish back-office functions to strengthen ALA's reach and impact, supporting the delivery of transformative Continuing Care and Social Services to Albertans. Working in close partnership with ALA's executive team, the CoS will help build and manage leadership capacity, develop and implement policies, and monitor key projects aligned with ALA's goals. They will also contribute to system-wide improvements, such as through committee participation. This role facilitates communication between ALA's executive team, government representatives, the Commissioner’s Office, and community partners. Additionally, the CoS oversees the office budget, approves expenses, and manages expenditures as appropriate. Serving as a key executive advisor, the CoS addresses emerging issues in continuing care that affect ALA and its partners. The role also supports the CEO through the development of briefing notes, proposals, and options analyses, and handles strategically sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
