Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:Three years of recent acute care urology nursing experience (obtained within the last 5 years). Previous adult case management experience. Demonstration of assessment, critical-thinking, problem-solving, organizational and patient care skills. Self-direction, adaptability and flexibility are required while working in a fast-paced, multi-faceted work environment. Ability to independently assess patient care needs and concerns and provide nursing follow-up care within Scope of Practice. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required including public speaking and teaching abilities. Excellent working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office including but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook e-mail and Calendar. A sound working knowledge of electronic medical systems (EMRs) including Connect Care, NetCare, Healthquest. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing and pulling to transfer or transport patients and equipment. (up to 50 kgs on occasional basis) Extended periods of sitting, standing and walking.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous Triage experience an asset. Participant in Quality and Process Improvement activities is preferred. Chronic Disease Management experience and Pain Management Courses are assets. Completion of an oncology certification program and/or equivalent work experience. Experience caring for patients undergoing chemotherapy, biotherapy and radiation therapy. Baccalaureate level degree in nursing. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
