Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:RPNs with Active or Eligible Registration with CRPNA College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta welcome to apply. 4 months of Addiction and Mental Health experience within the last 3 years. New grads who have completed a final preceptorship in an Addiction and Mental Health site may be considered. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Working knowledge of Psychotropic medications required. Experience in AMH assessment tools including but not limited to the Mental Status Examination. Experience in various risk assessments: i.e., Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, Violence risk. Training and experience in therapeutic modalities such as Trauma Informed Care, CBT, DBT and/or other evidence-based modalities. As a nurse in this regularized relief float position, you will be working and covering in multiple units. You would be covering predictable relief needs such as sick time, leave of absences, education, vacation, and personal leave. At RGH, you would be covering for Units 45, 48, 49, rTMS and ECT. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preferred Qualifications:Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred. Nursing experience in an acute care setting is preferred. Knowledge of the Addiction and Mental Health related resources across the Calgary Zone preferred. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques preferred. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act. Experience in various risk assessment i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk.
