Your Opportunity:
As an important member of the interdisciplinary Emergency Department team at the Grey Nuns Hospital, the Therapy Assistant will work broadly within their professional scope to assist in the delivery of therapeutic rehab and will work closely with the Emergency Department Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist. The Therapy Assistant will participate in assessment and treatment related activities in a fast-paced environment presenting with a variety of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological, vestibular, and functional conditions which impact independence and quality of life. The Therapy Assistant will have the opportunity to work independently through Therapy Assistant assignments as well as in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to identify patients of varying acuity in need of early rehab intervention and to follow up with patients for ongoing treatment and therapy in hospital. The Therapy Assistant will assist with implementation of Rehabilitation Medicine treatments and provision of assistive equipment to enable safe and appropriate discharges. As a part of the centralized GNH Rehabilitation Medicine department, this position may be assigned to assist other inpatient units as needed. The Therapy Assistant will be responsible for the delivery of services in accordance with established standards and in alignment with Covenant Health’s mission, vision, and values.

The Therapy Assistant participates in assessment related activities as well as the planning and development of client programs which includes leading individual or group treatment and educational interventions. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Connect Care is an asset.
